Broken Porcelain Lid

This porcelain lid had previously been broken and partially reassembled. With discoloured adhesive and missing areas, the owner felt that it was in need of restoration. The first step was to dismantle and clean the pieces, and then the pieces were carefully re-bonded. Areas of loss were then filled using epoxy putty, which was sanded, polished and painted. Gilded areas were lightly re-touched. The result was a sympathetic restoration with only minor traces of damage visible.
